The news of the murder of another Indian in America has come to light in the month of February itself. A 29-year-old Sikh youth was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Selma, Alabama.

The name of the youth has been said to be Raj Singh alias Goldy, who was a member of the Sikh Kirtan group. He was a resident of Tanda Sahuwala village of Bijnor in UP. He became a part of America’s Kirtan group six months ago. According to the information, Goldie was standing outside the Gurudwara when unknown assailants opened fire on him. His family got information about the murder on Sunday.

Speaking to Times of India, the deceased’s brother Gurpreet Singh said, I got information about the incident from relatives. After this the Gurudwara Committee was contacted. They are helping us fully. Apart from this, we have also appealed to the government for help. It is being told that Goldie’s murder could be a case of hate crime.

This is the second murder of an Indian in America in the last one month. Last month, 76-year-old Praveen Raojibhai was murdered. There was an altercation at a motel in Sheffield, Alabama, and then he was shot. In Alabama itself, an attempt was made to rob a student from Kerala, Neel Kumar, and then he was shot.

Raj Singh’s family is pleading with the Indian government to bring his body to Uttar Pradesh for cremation. Let us tell you that there has been an increase in the cases of murders of Indians in America. The White House has said that crime on the basis of race or gender will not be tolerated.
