Washington. Joe Biden addressed the nation for the first time after withdrawing from the US presidential election race. Addressing the Americans from the Oval Office, Biden explained the reason behind his decision.

During this, he stressed the importance of unity in the country and said that he has decided not to contest the elections again. He has spoken of supporting Vice President Kamala Harris to promote young voices in the Democratic Party.

In his last speech to the nation from the Oval Office, Biden said that there is a place for new thinking and new voices in the country. During this, he said, ‘Long-term experience in public life has its own importance, but at the same time new voices, fresh voices, and yes, young voices also have their own time and place.’ Along with this, he said that he has withdrawn his name from the White House race to ‘unite his party’.

Reason for withdrawing from the presidential race:

Joe Biden had been insisting for several weeks that he was the best candidate to challenge former President Donald Trump. However, he suddenly announced his withdrawal from the race. In such a situation, through this speech, Biden addressed the public directly for the first time and explained the reason behind his decision.

Biden said that he withdrew from the presidential race so that he could ‘unite his party’. He said, ‘Long experience in public life has its time and place. But new ideas, new voices, and yes! Young voices also have their time and place.’

In a TV speech on Wednesday, Biden described America as the ‘most powerful idea’ in the history of the world. He gave this speech just a few days after announcing his withdrawal from the presidential race. In this, he said, ‘America is an idea, an idea that is stronger than any army, vaster than any ocean, and more powerful than any dictator or tyrant.’ Along with this, he also warned that democracy is at stake in the elections to be held in November.

In his speech, Biden praised Kamala Harris profusely and also explained the reason for supporting Kamala Harris for the post of President. He praised her and called her a ‘strong’ and ‘capable’ leader. ‘She is experienced, she is strong, she is capable. She has been a wonderful partner of mine and a great leader for our country. Now, I leave the election to you, the American people.’

Concerns about Biden’s candidacy had deepened within the Democratic Party ever since he lost badly in the debate with Trump about a month ago. In that debate, he was speaking stammeringly, his face looked pale and he also failed to answer the attacks of his Republican opponent. This incident sparked rebellion within his own party. The question was not only whether he is capable of defeating Trump in November, but also whether at the age of 81, he is still fit for such a pressure-laden position.
