Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect arrested in the attempt to attack Trump, was standing near a golf course in Florida for about 12 hours. According to the initial investigation, he also had a rifle and food items with him. The report also states that he did not fire any bullet from his rifle nor did he see Trump.
While Routh was standing outside the golf course, a secret agent spotted him before he could do anything and shot him, which prevented him from escaping. The police acted swiftly and arrested Routh from a neighboring county. It is believed that Routh was waiting there to attack Trump, but before such an opportunity came, he was spotted by a security agent.
Questions raised on security
This attempted attack happened just a few weeks after the attack on Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on July 13. Due to which questions are being raised once again on the security agencies. The Chief of the Secret Agent Service said in his statement that the agents are alert for Trump’s security and are doing their job well, and he also talked about the need for additional resources.
Questions have once again been raised about Trump’s security, especially when political rhetoric and violence are increasing in the country.
What was Raut’s intention?
Since Routh’s arrest, his background and possible motive are being investigated. His social media accounts have revealed that he is an opponent of Trump and a supporter of the Democratic Party. At the same time, he keeps expressing anger on national and world events on his social media. He has also posted many absurd social media posts on America’s relations with China and the Ukraine war.
Charges like illegal possession of arms and erasing the serial number of that rifle have been leveled against Raut. His bail plea has also been rejected.
