The Donald Trump administration has said that if someone who received an overpayment does not return the money by July 24, the SSA may withhold 50 percent of his or her next Social Security payment.

Donald Trump’s administration has started cracking down on overpayment of Social Security. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is sending a 90-day notice to those who have been overpaid. These people will either have to apply for forgiveness or return the money at a lower rate. According to a report by USA Today, if they do not return the money by July 24, the SSA can withhold 50 percent of the Social Security payment. US residents who have been permanent residents here for at least five years, who have paid payroll taxes through a qualified job for 10 years and who are at least 62 years of age can be eligible to avail Social Security.

Social Security is a strong pillar of the social security system in America. This scheme is especially important for elderly American citizens, their families and those disabled people who are unable to work for any reason.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has warned that overpayments could become a big problem. Social Security payments are scheduled to begin on July 23. This money will be given to those whose birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of the month. This money is available to retired spouses and dependents.

If the amount is not to be returned, an application for forgiveness will have to be submitted

According to the SSA payment calendar, some people may get payment on August 1. Overpayment of Social Security can happen due to many reasons. Such as SSA making a mistake in calculating someone’s benefits, or a person not informing about the change in his income. If someone gets a notice of payment in excess of the prescribed amount, he can return the money through credit card, check or online bill payment. If he does not want to return the money, he will have to apply for forgiveness on the SSA website.

Social Security is an important scheme in America. It helps people financially after retirement and when they become disabled. There are some rules for this. Such as the person taking its benefit should be a resident of America and he should pay tax for some years. The Trump administration is now getting strict in this scheme. If someone has received more money by mistake, then he will have to return it. SSA is sending notices to such people. If they do not return the money, money can be deducted from their pension.
