Donald Trump’s advisor Peter Navarro launched a scathing attack on the BRICS countries, saying that this alliance will not last long because the member countries hate each other. He warned India against buying oil from Russia, high tariffs and relations with China and called it against the interests of America.
New York/Washington: US President Donald Trump’s trade advisor Peter Navarro has once again launched a scathing attack on the BRICS countries. He has said that the BRICS alliance will not last long because its member countries ‘hate’ each other and their business methods are like ‘vampires’, which are ‘sucking’ America’s blood. The BRICS alliance initially included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. In the year 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates joined it, and in 2025, Indonesia also became a part of it.
‘They suck our blood like vampires’
Navarro said during an interview on the ‘Real America Voice’ show on Monday, “I don’t think the BRICS alliance will last long. All these countries hate each other and have fought against each other in history.” Criticizing the trade attitude of the BRICS countries, he said, “The economy of these countries cannot run without selling goods to America. But when they sell goods to us, their unfair trade practices suck our blood like vampires.” Navarro specifically targeted India. He said, “There has been tension between India and China for decades. I remembered, it was China that gave the nuclear bomb to Pakistan. Now ships with Chinese flags are roaming in the Indian Ocean.”
India’s high tariffs targeted
Navarro also questioned India’s purchase of oil from Russia. He claimed that before Russia attacked Ukraine, India used to buy ‘nominal’ oil from Russia. But now India is importing Russian oil ‘out of greed’ and Russian refiners are ‘profiteering’ in India. He said that due to this American taxpayers have to spend more money for the Ukraine war. Navarro also targeted India’s high tariffs. He said, ‘India’s tariffs are higher than any big country in the world. We have to fix this.’ He warned India that it will have to cooperate with the US in trade talks, otherwise ‘going with Russia and China’ will not have good consequences.
A dig at the relations between Russia and China
Navarro also took a dig at the relations between Russia and China. He claimed that China is eyeing Russia’s Vladivostok port and Siberia. He said, ‘China is occupying Siberia through ‘illegal immigration’. Best wishes to Putin for this.’ Regarding Brazil, Navarro said that the economy there is being ‘ruined’ due to the ‘socialist policies’ of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Referring to former President Jair Bolsonaro, he said that the Brazilian government has imprisoned the ‘real leader’. Let us tell you that Bolsonaro is facing trial for allegedly plotting a coup after losing the 2022 elections.
Criticism of India on social media
Navarro also targeted India on social media platform X. He said in a post, “India has the largest population in the world, but it can manipulate surveys by gathering just a few lakh X influencers? This is a joke. America, look how foreign interests use our social media for their agenda.” Navarro claimed that the US has made ‘fantastic’ trade deals with the European Union, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Indonesia. He said that these countries are working together with the US because they have realized that they were taking too much advantage of the US and they need the American market.
Vague answer to the question of ban on China
Asked about additional sanctions on China, the biggest buyer of Russian oil, Navarro said the US was being “cautious”. He again demanded that India stop buying Russian oil. “India has to stop buying Russian oil. This will be a step towards peace. The path to peace goes through New Delhi. Europe also has to stop buying Russian oil,” he said. Speaking of tariffs of over 50 per cent on China, Navarro said, “We are trying to protect the American people without harming them. This is the art of diplomacy, and you have to trust Trump.” (AP)
