US President Donald Trump has said he warned about Osama bin Laden a year ago, before the 9/11 attacks. He said he had asked officials to keep an eye on him.
Washington: US President Donald Trump said history will never forget that it was US Navy SEALs who stormed the hideout of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and shot him in the head. Trump also reiterated that he had warned about bin Laden in 2001, a year before al-Qaeda terrorists attacked the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.
What did Trump say?
“History will never forget that it was Navy SEALs who entered Osama bin Laden’s compound and shot him in the head. Remember that,” Trump said in Norfolk, Virginia, during a special ceremony marking the 250th anniversary of the US Navy. Trump said he had asked officials to keep an eye on bin Laden a year before the 9/11 attacks. “Please remember, I wrote about Osama bin Laden exactly a year before the World Trade Center attack. I said, ‘You have to keep an eye on Osama bin Laden.’ I said a year ago that I saw a man named Osama and I didn’t like him. I said he had to be kept an eye on him,” he said.

Trump’s pain spilled out
Donald Trump said, “They didn’t keep track. A year later, he blew up the World Trade Center. So I should take some credit, because no one else will give it to me.” Trump said that the US Navy had thrown bin Laden’s body into the sea from the USS Carl Vinson.
bin Laden was killed in Pakistan
In May 2011, US Navy SEALs killed bin Laden in an operation that targeted a house in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The operation took place during the tenure of then-US President Barack Obama. Trump, who has been critical of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan under former President Joe Biden, also said, “America would have easily won Afghanistan. We could have easily won every war.”
