During this meeting, Mohammed bin Salman and Donald Trump discussed a number of issues, including arms deals and the Abraham Accords, which recognize Israel. During this meeting, President Donald Trump announced plans to provide Saudi Arabia with Israeli-style F-35 fighter jets.
‘We want to be part of the Abraham Accords but…’
Washington DC: “We want to be part of the Abraham Accords, but we also want to ensure we secure a clear path to a two-state solution,” says Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during talks with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Mohammed bin Salman further said, “Osama bin Laden used the Saudi people for 9/11 to destroy US-Saudi relations; we are doing everything we can to prevent that from happening again.”
Saudi Arabia to receive F-35 fighter jets
During a conversation in the Oval Office, US President Donald Trump announced that he will provide Saudi Arabia with F-35 fighter jets similar to Israel’s. “When you look at the F-35s, they’re very similar to Israel’s F-35s,” Trump said. “Saudi Arabia is a great ally of ours, and Israel is a great ally.”
What is the Abraham Accord?
Donald Trump is attempting to persuade Saudi Arabia to normalize relations with Israel. To this end, an agreement called the Abraham Accords has been drafted. Under this agreement, Bahrain, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates have established commercial and diplomatic relations with Israel. Trump believes that once Saudi Arabia signs the agreement, everyone in the Arab world will join.
