The US has said that the Quad has become more strategically united and relevant than ever before. The Quad summit will be held in the US on 21 September.
The Quad Leaders Summit is to be held on 21 September 2024 in Delaware, USA. Earlier, the US said on Wednesday that the upcoming Quad summit will show that this group of four countries has become more strategically united and relevant than ever before. It is worth noting that the Quad is a group of four countries Australia, Japan, India and the US. US President Joe Biden led the summit through digital medium in 2020. Since then, the countries included in the Quad have been organizing the summit every year in turn.
Prime Minister Modi will be in the US for 3 days from September 21 for an official visit to the US. During this time he will attend the annual Quad summit. After this, PM Modi will address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly. PM Modi will also address the people of the Indian community on September 22 in New York during this visit. India was to host the Quad summit this year but on the request of America, India will now host it next year.
“We believe that at this summit you will see that the Quad has become more strategically united and relevant than ever before,” White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Director John Kirby said at a press conference in Washington on Wednesday. Kirby said that this will be the first time that the US President will host the Quad summit in his hometown Wilmington.
Kirby said that Joe Biden will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese separately. After this, Biden will also discuss with them in a group meeting. Kirby said that for the last more than three years, investing in the Indo-Pacific region with the aim of further strengthening partnerships there has been a priority of America.
