Washington. US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a virtual meeting on Tuesday amid the Ukraine dispute. During this, both the leaders discussed the issues of Afghanistan including Ukraine. Indeed, officials in Ukraine and Western countries are concerned that Moscow has signaled plans to attack its neighbour, with Russia increasing military mobilization near Ukraine. Russia, however, said it had no such intentions and accused Ukraine and its Western allies of making baseless claims while hiding their alleged offensive plans.
Special points of conversation between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin:-
- America wants Russia not to attack Ukraine in any way. At the same time, Russia also wants concrete assurances from America regarding the expansion of NATO. America is trying to avert the US-Russia Conflict between Russia and Ukraine. If Russia does not agree, then Biden is preparing to impose strict sanctions on it.
- Biden reiterated US support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and unity, according to the White House. He called for reducing tensions and resolving the issues diplomatically. Biden and Putin agreed that their team would discuss this further.
- The European Union has also warned Russia against any action on Ukraine. EU chief von der Leyen said that we do not want Russia to take any such action, which will force us to take tough decisions.
- US intelligence believes that one lakh 75 thousand soldiers of Russia are waiting for the green signal to attack Ukraine. In 2014 also Russia took this step. However, there is no chance that Biden will send American troops to defend Ukraine.
- The Ukrainian government gives more importance to Europe than to Russia. In 2014, when President Viktor Yanukovich gave preference to Russia over Europe, the public was outraged. Taking advantage of this, Russia occupied Crimea, which is called part of Ukraine. Now he wants to stop Ukraine from going to Europe, America or to the West.
- Russia also fears that if the relations between Ukraine and the West are strengthened, then NATO forces will move closer to Russia in the future and this will be a big threat to it. The US and NATO have stood with Ukraine while opposing it. (agency input)
