New Delhi: Workday Inc. Chief Executive Officer Aneel Bhusri says that major AI companies like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic actually use his company’s products. However, investors fear they could disrupt the software industry.
“We’re capable of this, and that’s why Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI all run Workday,” Bhusri said on Tuesday. Workday makes software for office functions, such as payroll and employee management.
Investors are worried
At the same time, investors have become concerned that AI tools will simplify such tasks and eliminate demand for these products. Workday’s stock has fallen nearly 40% this year, a decline similar to that seen with other companies like Salesforce Inc.
Workday co-founder Bhusri returned to the company as CEO earlier this month. He had stepped down from that role in 2024, but will continue to serve as chairman. Following the company’s earnings report on Tuesday, Bhusri said Workday’s software will continue to work even in the age of AI.
What did Bhusri say?
“These are real systems of record that must process transactions accurately and quickly, implement rigorous security models, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements around the world. No amount of coding will create an HR or ERP system,” he said.
What is ERP?
ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning, software that brings together many basic business functions into a single system.
