Dubai: The Chief of Army Staff General MM Narwane met the General Commander and Staff of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Major General Saleh Muhammad Saleh Al Ameri to discuss mutual interest and defense cooperation. General Narwane is on a visit to the UAE and Saudi Arabia, two Gulf countries considered strategically important these days. This information was given by the Additional Directorate of Public Information of the Indian Army on Friday. General Narwane took a salute parade at UAE Army Headquarters on Wednesday and paid homage at the memorial of the martyrs.
During this, he (Manoj Mukund Naravane) also visited the Army Institute. The purpose of the Army Chief’s visit to the UAE is to increase bilateral bilateral defense cooperation. This visit of General Narwane is taking place at a time when the situation in the Gulf region is changing rapidly. Israel’s relations with many Arab countries are normalizing. A tense situation has also arisen following the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist Mohsin Fakhrizadeh. The statement issued by the army said that General Narwane visited the United Arab Emirates from December 9 to 10.
According to the official statement, the Chief of Army Staff (Manoj Mukund Naravane) will visit Saudi Arabia from December 13 to 14 in the second leg of the yatra. This is the first visit by any Indian army chief to two strategically important Gulf countries. This journey of Narwane shows the growing relationship between India and the UAE. It is believed that this visit of the Defense Minister will open up new dimensions of cooperation in the field of defense and security. It is worth mentioning that just a few days before the visit to the Gulf region of Narwane, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had visited Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
