According to the police officer, the accused Iqbar Hussain was apprehended from Shugandha beach area of ​​Cox’s Bazar at around 10:10 pm last night. Iqbal is accused of having previously placed the Islamic holy book, the Quran, at the Durga Puja site, which led to the violence. At least three people lost their lives in attacks on Durga Puja pandals in Bangladesh.

On Thursday itself, Bangladesh’s Comilla Police had claimed that the person who was responsible for inciting the violence in CCTV has been identified. The police had questioned 35-year-old Iqbal Hussain in this case and then later arrested him. Earlier on Tuesday, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had instructed the country’s Home Minister to initiate action against those inciting violence.

On Tuesday, he had asked the Home Minister to initiate immediate action against those who had incited recent violence using religion.
