Washington:  China wants to dominate the countries of South Asia. In the next decade, it will step up efforts to make an impact in political, economic and security matters in the region. Dragon wants to create trouble for India by increasing its cooperation to Pakistan.

This was revealed in a report by the US Institute of Peace, a US think tank on the current situation and China’s policies. The report published on Wednesday described how China is trying to shape the region in its own way. The report advises the US to execute its successful plans keeping the sector at the highest priority.

Senior experts, planners and retired diplomats have been included in this study. The report said that relations between China and Pakistan have become increasingly strong. Its influence is visible on the government, administration as well as economic policies of Pakistan. China is also showing equal interest in Pakistan and India for Pakistan’s side. Especially since last year China has doubled its support to Pakistan, moving from neutrality to the issue of Kashmir. China wants to bring India into a situation in which it sees a situation of two-sided conflict by creating a situation of conflict between India and Pakistan. With this strategy, India’s resources and attention will be divided and there will be problems for India.

The report also said that the India-China border would remain a major issue. Therefore, there will be competition between both China and India in the Indo-Pacific region. China is also increasing its strength at sea for its economic interests. It may be noted that India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives Bhutan are considered prominent among the South Asian countries.
