Donald Trump was sitting in a court in Lower Manhattan about six months ago and during this time a decision given by the jury created a new identity for him. He became the first former President of America to be convicted of a crime.

Trump will now start this (session) on Thursday by ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) located a short distance from this court and he will be awarded ‘Person of the Year’ by Time magazine.

For businessman-turned-politician Trump, this honour is a new chapter in the history of his fluctuating relationship with New York. It also marks a strong comeback for Trump, who has refused to accept his defeat in the presidential election four years ago.

Trump has returned to the White House after winning the presidential election in November. According to four people familiar with Trump’s schedule, Trump may visit Wall Street (where the NYSE is located) for the formal start of the day’s trading.

At the same time, a person familiar with the developments said that Trump will also be declared ‘Person of the Year’ for 2024 by Time on Thursday. On the condition of anonymity, these people informed the ‘Associated Press’ about Trump’s visit to the New York Stock Exchange and the presentation of the Time Award.

Trump was also declared ‘Person of the Year’ by Time after being elected to the White House for the first time in 2016. Trump was listed among the final contenders for this year’s award by Time magazine along with Vice President Kamala Harris, social media platform ‘X’ owner Elon Musk, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Princess of Wales Kate. Time magazine refused to confirm Trump’s selection before the announcement of the award.
