The suspect in the shooting incident at a mall in Boise, US, has died. Two people were killed and four were injured in the attack. Boise Police Department gave this information on Tuesday. The Ada County coroner identified the suspected attacker as Jacob Bergquist (27) of Boise.
Coroner Dottie Owens said Bergquist died Tuesday morning at a hospital and the cause of his death was not yet known. Owens identified one of the dead as 26-year-old Joe Acker, who worked as a security guard there. Family members say that he died while trying to stop the gunman.
The Boise Police Department received the first call on Monday afternoon informing them about the shooting at Boise Town Square Mall at around 1.50 pm. Callers had reported that a white man was present there with several guns.
Roberto Padilla Argueles (49), who was injured in the shooting, died during treatment in hospital.
According to the police, officers saw the suspected assailant running out of the mall three minutes after receiving information about the shooting. An encounter also took place between them. During this, the attacker had also fired towards the busy road, injuring a 68-year-old woman in question in a car.
Boise Mayor Lauren McLean has called for the privacy of the families of the dead and injured in this time of grief. The ‘Boise Town Square Mall’ is located in Boise, the largest city in the US state of Idaho.
