Washington: US special envoy Steve Witkoff has said that President Donald Trump is going to hold a major meeting at the White House on Wednesday. In this meeting Trump will discuss a comprehensive plan for managing Gaza after the war, Times of Israel reported citing Fox News. According to Times of Israel, this is the first time that Witkoff has revealed the existence of a US plan for post-war management.
What did Witkoff say?
“Many people will see how strong and well-intentioned it is, and it reflects President Trump’s humanitarian intentions,” Witkoff said in an interview with Fox News, without elaborating. Witkoff also reiterated the Trump administration’s official position on the ceasefire agreement.
Trump defended Israel
Recently, America’s Trump also made a big statement. Trump defended Israel’s attacks in Gaza. The US President had said that Israel’s attacks in Gaza are not genocide. Trump had said that something very bad had happened in Israel on October 7, 2023. Hamas terrorists had wreaked havoc there and as a result, there is a war in Gaza.
The condition of Gaza is miserable
Gaza health officials say that since October 2023, more than 62,000 people have died and about 1.5 lakh people have been injured in Israel’s devastating attack on Gaza. There is also a crisis of starvation in Gaza. Israel has been accused of genocide and war crimes in international courts.
Why did the war start?
Hamas carried out a terrorist attack on Israel on 7 October 2023, after which the war started. In the attack, the terrorists killed about 1,200 innocent civilians and 251 people were taken hostage. After this, Israel started a counterattack which is still going on. (ANI)
