Indian-origin woman arrested in US, accused of murdering her two young children

US authorities have arrested a 35-year-old Indian-origin woman in New Jersey on charges of murdering her two young children. The identities of the deceased children have not been released. Let’s find out what the case is all about.

America Indian Origin Woman Arrested: A tragic incident has taken place in Hillsborough, New Jersey. Here, 35-year-old Indian origin woman Priyatharsini Natarajan has been arrested on charges of murdering her two young sons. According to Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald, on January 13, 2026, at around 6:45 pm, the children’s father called 911. He told that when he returned home from work, he found his 5 and 7 year old sons unconscious and said that his wife had done something to them.

Children found dead in bedroom

When police arrived at the scene, the father and his wife, Priyatharsini Natarajan, were present. The children were found dead in a bedroom. Medical teams arrived at the scene and tried their best to revive them, but they were pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that Natarajan had murdered the children, and he was subsequently arrested.

Serious allegations against Natarajan

Natarajan has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a third-degree felony. Natarajan was arrested by Hillsborough police and is being held in the Somerset County Jail pending trial. The case is being investigated by Hillsborough Township police detectives, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The names of the children have not been released.

A postmortem examination will be conducted by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the children’s identities and the manner, including cause, of death. The children’s names have not yet been released and the investigation is ongoing.
