Indian Student Deported from America: An Indian student’s dream was shattered as soon as he set foot on American soil. In a video going viral on social media, he was thrown to the ground by American officials at Newark Airport in New Jersey, handcuffed and treated like a criminal. Tears in his eyes, panic and helplessness… these scenes are enough to break anyone’s heart.

The incident came to light through a post by Indo-American social entrepreneur Kunal Jain. Kunal Jain shared the picture and heartbreaking story of this Indian student on X. He wrote, “I saw a young Indian student at the New York airport last night who was being forcibly deported. He was crying, handcuffed. He was being treated like a dangerous criminal. He came in search of dreams, not to commit any crime.”

‘I’m not crazy…’

Kunal Jain said that the student was saying in a Haryanvi accent – “I am not crazy, these people want to prove me crazy.” This suggests that the student was under a lot of mental stress and probably could not explain himself properly.

Kunal Jain is the CEO of Healthbots AI. He expressed concern that such incidents are now becoming a daily occurrence. He further wrote in his post, “Every day 3-4 students are seen crying and begging at the airport like this. They reach the US in the morning with visas and are sent back in the evening, that too tied up like criminals.”

He has appealed to the Indian Embassy and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to intervene in the matter. Jain also said that the student was going to travel with him in the flight but was stopped at the last minute. This incident is not just an injury to one person, but an injury to the trust that thousands of Indian students have every year by going abroad with the hope of education and future.
