The tension between China and America is well known, often both are seen challenging each other and raising questions on policies. No matter who is in power in America, the enmity with China never decreases.

In such a situation, presidential elections are to be held in America in about 3 weeks, meanwhile China itself has told who it wants to see as the next President of America, Kamala Harris or Donald Trump?

Jia Qingguo, a prominent senior member of the Standing Committee of China’s national advisory body CPPCC, said on Thursday that China would prefer Kamala Harris over Donald Trump as the next US president. He made this statement citing the deterioration in bilateral relations during Trump’s presidency. The Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) is an important part of the Chinese government.

‘Bad experience during Trump administration’

Jia said that I would prefer Kamala Harris because our experience during Donald Trump’s administration has been very bad. We do not want to repeat that experience. There was a lot of tension between China and America during Trump’s presidency, China believes that Kamala Harris, who played the role of Vice President in Biden’s government, represents continuity. Jia, a senior member of the CPPCC, says that he also has a problem with the praise of the Biden administration, he believes that Biden carried forward the tough policies against China that were made during the Trump administration.

Stability in relations under Biden government-China

Jia said that still under the Biden government, America’s policy towards China is more stable and predictable. We are trying to reconnect with each other, our officials are meeting and discussions are taking place on issues. This is providing stability to the relations.

The Biden administration has adopted several tough policies against China, be it China’s claim in the South China Sea or on Taiwan or the ban on the export of Chinese electric vehicles. Despite this, Biden has been continuously talking to Chinese President Xi Jinping to control the tension between the two countries.

Trump had accused of spreading corona

Jia Qingguo described Trump as too emotional and said that during his tenure, Trump has spread a lot of negative information about China. During Trump’s presidency, relations between the world’s two largest economies reached a very low level, especially after the spread of Corona virus in Wuhan in 2019, the relations became more tense. Donald Trump accused China of spreading the Corona virus and said that this virus spread from China’s bio lab in Wuhan which engulfed the whole world. China had to launch a large-scale campaign to counter Trump’s allegations.

Is Trump a threat to China’s economy?

Apart from this, during his tenure, Trump increased the tax rate on Chinese exports, so that by putting pressure on Beijing to make access to American goods easier. Trump has threatened to impose a 60 percent tax on Chinese goods if he is re-elected as President. This can cause a lot of damage to China’s already sluggish economy. Jia has said that China’s Jinping government is also preparing an official statement regarding the US presidential election, so that it can avoid the accusation of interfering in America’s internal matter.
