Beijing: The height of the mountains also increases. The height of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, has now officially increased slightly. Although there is not much difference in height, there is still much left in this story. According to experts, this length is not the end of Everest’s story. Nepal and China jointly announced in the past, after re-measuring Mount Everest, that the world’s highest peak is now 86 centimeters and higher. Now its height is 8848.86 meters.
End of decades old dispute
The decades-old dispute between two neighboring countries over the world’s highest mountain peak came to an end after the revised elevation of Mount Everest was revealed. Everest lies between the border of China and Nepal. Climbers climb it on both sides. Even though the altitude seems fixed, the geological changes, the intricate ways of measuring the mountain, and the different criteria for setting the world’s highest peak show that many questions remain.
This is why there is an increase and decrease in height
Due to geological factors there is an increase and decrease in height. Due to the activity of tectonic plates, the height of the mountain can increase gradually and its height can also be reduced by earthquake. Dang Yamin, a member of the Chinese team that surveyed Everest’s height earlier this year, said that repulsive forces can help ensure long-term sustainability. He explained, ‘It is nature’s nature to balance.’ For example, Dang cited the terrible earthquake of 1934, which in a few moments had destroyed the 150-year height.
Several ways to measure the length of mountains
Actually, there are many ways to measure the length of mountains. Last year, a team from Nepal placed a satellite navigational marker on the top of Everest to find its exact position via GPS satellites. A team from China also started a similar mission in the spring. However, it used the Baidu Navigation satellite manufactured in China, among other equipment. The Nepal team also used a ground-mounted radar to measure the layer of snow on the highest rock in Everest.
Difficult to measure from sea level
It has been a little difficult to measure mountain elevation above sea level, as sea level varies due to other factors including tides and magnetism. The rise in sea level presents a different challenge for future measurements. Everest has been crowned as the highest mountain because it is already in the highest mountain region. At the same time, according to the measurement of the Earth’s core (the central part of the Earth), Mount Chimborazo of Ecuador is the highest in the world, which is 2,072 meters higher than Everest. As the Earth rises in the middle, the equatorial mountains are away from the core. At the same time, if the peak is calculated from the lower surface of the mountain, then the ‘Mauna Kiya’ mountain of Hawaii is the highest, but most of it is under the sea.
