1,075 killed in Russia, new record set

New variant eyeing the UK
There has also been a change in the delta variant of Corona in the UK, which is being monitored. It has been found that due to this the infection spreads rapidly. That is why it is classified as Variant Under Investigation (VUI).
Experts have warned that this indicates the pandemic is not over. This variant has been named VUI-21OCT-01 by the UK Health Protection Agency (UKHSA). Evidence suggests that it spreads more rapidly than the dominant delta variant.

The UK Health Security Agency has said there is some preliminary evidence that the new variant may have an increased infection rate in the UK compared to Delta. It was first detected in July. It was around six per cent of all cases during the last week.

New cases in China, increased restrictions

According to the National Health Commission of China, 38 cases of corona have been reported in different parts of the country.
Booster dose will be given in Sri Lanka
After the elderly, the Sri Lankan government has announced a plan to give booster doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine to frontline workers as well. The government has announced that from November 1, employees in the health, security, airport and tourism sectors will start receiving the third dose of the vaccine. So far, 59 percent of the 22 million population in Sri Lanka have been vaccinated.
Singapore removes India from travel ban list
The Singapore government has removed India and five other Asian countries from the travel ban list. Singapore’s Health Ministry said in its statement that people who have traveled to India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the last 14 days will be allowed to enter or pass through Singapore from Wednesday.
However, travelers coming from these countries will have to follow strict Kovid rules and will have to stay in isolation for 10 days.

Austrian chancellor warns
Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schalenberg, after a meeting with officials on Friday to curb rising corona cases, said that if the number of corona patients in ICUs reaches 500 or 25 percent of the country’s total ICU capacity, then businesses like restaurants and hotels will only limited to vaccinated people.
The government will ban non-vaccinated people when the corona cases in the ICU reach 600 or one-third of the total capacity.

According to IANS, during the last 40 years in America, more people died due to corona than due to HIV or AIDS. A website called The National, quoted by the Xinhua News Agency, wrote that even America’s initial attitude towards AIDS was denial and apathetic.
