In the ISS, the sperms of rats were frozen and kept for about 6 years. Surprisingly, when they were brought to earth, they had full potential to give birth to children. Radiation effect on Sperms had no effect on them. Scientists are surprised to see this experiment on space.

Until now, scientists (Scientist experiment on space) believed that the greatest effect of radiation is on the ability to reproduce. It was believed that the fertility of sperm is reduced due to radiation, but a new experiment has changed the perception about it. This experiment was done on rats. The sperms of rats were kept in the International Space Station (ISS) in high radiation for about 6 years after freezing them. When these were revised back, the results were astonishing. Space rats were also born from them and they were completely healthy. No genetic deficiency of any kind was seen in them.

On the ISS, the sperms of mice were kept in freeze-dried form for 5 years and 10 months. They were frozen at a temperature of minus 95 degrees. Japanese researchers produced many babies of a new breed of rats only through sperms that had been exposed to cosmic radiation for such a long time. The interesting thing is that there was no deficiency in any of these mice, they are completely normal. This study was published in ‘Science Advance’. Although developmental biologist and lead author of this study Teruhiko Wakayama said that there is a slight difference in the breed produced by the sperm stored in the frozen sperms in space compared to the earth rats, but Wouldn’t say lack.

Sperm brought down in 3 batches

In the gene test, the mice were found to be completely normal. Mice sperms were frozen and placed in 3 boxes. Wakayama and his colleagues at the University of Yamanashi in Japan sent these boxes in 2013. Each box contained 48 vials containing the sperm of the rats. This experiment was to know that what is the effect of radiation on them? These boxes came to Earth from space in 3 batches. The first and second batch were brought a little early, while the third batch was brought after about 6 years. Due to dry freezing, the cost of this experiment also came down. Children were born after bringing them to earth and revising them.

The experiment will be useful in saving the human race

With this experiment, scientists have now given hope that human sperms can also be kept alive in high radiation. If there is an attempt to settle humans on another planet, then the results of this study can be very useful. The existence of human beings can be saved through the stored sperms. This experiment can be of great use to humans.
