Pakistan: Imran Khan government reverses decision to import cotton and sugar from India

Imran Khan Government’s cabinet has reversed the decision to import cotton from India. It is being told that due to the opposition at the domestic level, the Imran Khan government has changed this decision of import.

Islamabad Pakistan (Pakistan) had taken a big decision regarding trade with India, due to which there was a domestic protest and now the Imran government has reversed the decision to import cotton and sugar from India. According to Pakistani media reports, the decision of the Cabinet Economic Coordination Committee to import cotton and sugar from India to Pakistan has been rejected. The textile industry is demanding to get cotton from India, while the fundamentalists were criticizing the Imran government for bowing down to India without changing Kashmir.

In fact, in the decision of the Pakistani cabinet on Thursday, it has been decided to stop the decision to import cotton. Earlier, Pakistan’s Cabinet Economic Coordination Committee on Wednesday approved the resumption of trade with India. The committee said that Pakistan will import cotton from India from 30 June 2021. The government of Pakistan had also approved the import of sugar from India to the private sector. Let me tell you, Pakistan stopped the import of cotton and other agricultural products from India in the year 2016. According to sources, in order to save the textile industry in Pakistan from rising sugar prices and crises, the Imran government had approved the resumption of trade with India.

Pakistan is facing a

severe crisis due to shortage of cotton due to shortage of cotton. Pakistan’s Ministry of Textiles had recommended the removal of the ban on import of cotton from India to remove shortage of raw materials. Under this pressure, Imran Khan government first approved the import of cotton but rejected it when political parties started to surround them.
