Islamabad. A major train accident has happened in Ghotki, located in Sindh province of Pakistan. At least thirty people are reported to have died in a collision between two trains here. According to the information received, Sir Syed Express train collided with Millat Express between Reti and Daharki. It was told that 40 to 50 people were injured in this accident. Railways said that the Millat Express was going from Karachi to Sargodha when its wheels derailed on the way. Meanwhile, Sir Syed Express going from Rawalpindi to Karachi hit him. After the accident, eight bogies of Millat Express and three coaches including the engine of Sir Syed Express derailed, while some bogies fell into the ditch.

Ghotki SSP Umar Tufail said that passengers are still trapped in a bogie and we are apprehensive that ‘the death toll may increase’. At the same time, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah said, ‘It is a challenging task. Heavy machinery will be used to rescue those who are still trapped and this work will take time. We are also organizing medical camps to provide medical help to the people.
