On several occasions, he said Biden was a worse president than Carter, and said a Georgia peanut farmer would be “happy” if Biden followed suit because, by comparison, his tenure as president from 1977 to 1981 was “fantastic.”

What did Trump say after Carter’s death?

Shortly after Carter’s death at age 100 was announced Sunday, Trump shared two statements on Truth Social.

He said: “I just heard the news of the death of President Jimmy Carter.

“Those of us who have been fortunate enough to be president understand that this is a very exclusive club, and only we can shoulder the enormous responsibility of leading the greatest nation in history,” he wrote in a blog post.

“The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country, and he did everything he could to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude,” he said.

In a second post, he talked about how he “disagrees with [Mr. Carter] philosophically and politically,” but that he “also realizes that he truly loves and respects our country and everything it stands for.”

“He worked hard to make America a better place, and that’s why I have so much respect for him,” he added. “He was a truly good man, and he will be greatly missed.”

He also wrote that he was of great importance, much more than most presidents, after he left the Oval Office.
