The US will not supply Pakistan with new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM). The US Embassy clarified that earlier reports suggesting that the US was considering supplying these missiles to Pakistan were incorrect. The embassy said the list issued on September 30, 2025, referred to maintenance and spare parts for Pakistan, and not the supply of new missiles.
New Delhi: Pakistan’s joy has been dashed. The US is not planning to supply any new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) to Pakistan, the US Embassy clarified on Friday.
In fact, this clarification from the US Embassy has come at a time when in recent times some reports had claimed that America is considering giving these missiles to Pakistan amid improvement in diplomatic relations between the two countries.
How did these news start?
It is worth noting that earlier reports claimed that Pakistan was likely to receive AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) from the United States. These reports stated that Pakistan was among 35 buyers of these missiles in an arms contract notified by the US Department of Defense. However, these reports have now been refuted.
What did the US Embassy say?
A statement from the US Embassy and Consulates in India said that on September 30, 2025, the War Department issued a list of standard contract announcements, which specified amendments to existing foreign military sales contracts for maintenance and spares for several countries, including Pakistan.
The same statement further stated that no part of the referenced contract amendment provides for the supply of new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) to Pakistan. This amendment does not involve the upgrade of any of Pakistan’s existing capabilities.
