Washington: US President Donald Trump praised NASA’s Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams’ thick hair and sent a message to two astronauts stranded at the International Space Station that they would be brought back to Earth soon.
Trump (78) mentioned the possibility of personally sending a rescue team into orbit to help Butch Wilmore and Williams stranded at the space station return to Earth and criticized former President Joe Biden for extending an eight-day mission to nine months. “Biden left them stranded there,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
He said, ‘Our two astronauts are stranded in space. I said to Elon Musk, ‘Do me a favor. Can you get them out?’ He said ‘yes’. He is preparing to go there, I think in two weeks.’ Trump said that Musk is currently preparing a vehicle that will go up and take them from there. Trump said about Williams in the Oval Office, ‘That woman’s hair is very thick, good and strong. This is not a joke.’ He said this in response to a question asked about Williams and Wilmore who have been stranded on the International Space Station for nine months.
Attacking Biden,
Trump termed Biden as the ‘most incompetent president in the history of the country’ and said, ‘They let this happen to you, but this president will not let this happen.’ Trump said, ‘They have been left there. I hope they like each other or maybe they love each other, I don’t know, but they have been left there. Think about it. There is danger there too. There can be some failures there. It will be very bad. They have to be taken out.’
‘Stranded for eight months’
Musk said in a post on ‘X’ that ‘the astronauts went there for only eight days but they have been there for eight months.’ He said, ‘SpaceX could have brought them back by sending another vehicle six months ago, but the Biden White House refused to allow it (NASA did not). President Trump asked to bring them back as soon as possible and we are doing so.’
