Former Japanese Ambassador to the United States Rahm Emanuel has launched a scathing political attack on President Donald Trump, saying that Trump has ruined relations with India.
Trump Tariff Policy Opposition: US President Donald Trump is facing constant criticism for his tariff policies against India. Trump is facing strong opposition within the US itself. In recent days, about two dozen US lawmakers have written a letter to Trump and advised him to improve the strained relations with India. Meanwhile, now top US Democratic leader Rahm Emanuel has also targeted President Donald Trump.
‘Trump ruined the relationship’
Rahm Emanuel called Donald Trump arrogant, saying he had destroyed America’s 40-year strategic relationship with India out of “arrogance and greed for a small sum of money from Pakistan.” Emanuel said this was not only a diplomatic mistake but also a strategic one that China has exploited. He said Trump has ruined the relationship.
Why is Trump kind to Pakistan?
Rahm Emanuel has questioned Trump’s friendly attitude towards Pakistan. Rahm said that Trump is being kind because his son is receiving money from Pakistan. Emanuel, a former aide to former US President Barack Obama and until recently the ambassador to Japan during the Trump administration, had said in a statement recently, “He ruined everything because Modi will not say that President Trump brokered a ceasefire with Pakistan and therefore Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.”
‘Trump has ruined 40 years of hard work’
Emanuel said in an interview earlier this week that India could have been a major weapon for the US against China in manufacturing, technology, and even military matters. “Previous US administrations have strengthened the relationship over 40 years, and the US president has ruined it, undoing all that hard work,” he said.
Learn about Rahm Emmanuel
Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that Rahm Emanuel has previously served as Mayor of Chicago and Chief of Staff to Barack Obama. His statements have raised the political temperature in America. Trump’s tone seems to have changed recently, sometimes calling India a great country and sometimes calling PM Modi a great leader and his friend.
