Ankara has reacted sharply after the US imposed sanctions on Turkey over the Russian S-400 missile system. Turkey’s Foreign Ministry says its partisan decision from the US should be considered again. Turkey said it agreed to hold diplomatic talks in the spirit of coalition to find a solution to the issue. The statement issued by the State Department said that the US ban would have a negative impact between the two countries. Turkey has said in a strong tone that if America does not back down from this action, Turkey will avenge it in time.
Earlier also Turkey had said that we are not slaves of America. Therefore Washington cannot decide which weapon system Ankara should buy. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, bypassing US sanctions, announced that Russia’s S-400 air defense system would be deployed as scheduled. He said that Ankara stood firm against US pressure on the purchase of the S-400 system. He said that Turkey is completely free to choose its trade partners and arms suppliers.
