Kabul, ANI. Former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has said that America still has business in Afghanistan which has not been completed yet

He said that this business was done under the Trump administration and the withdrawal from Afghanistan was calendar-based. Citing an interview of Khalilzad with Fox News, Tolonews reported that the US had entered into a condition-based agreement under the administration of former President Donald Trump, although the new administration chose a calendar-based withdrawal.

Highlighting the fact that some of the terms of the US-Taliban agreement have not been implemented, Khalilzad was quoted by Tolo News as saying, “The Taliban have not implemented them.” We want to hold the Taliban accountable for those agreements.

I advocated that rather than parting ways, we needed to pressure the Taliban to negotiate and reach an agreement on the implementation of the remaining parts dealing with terrorism and the establishment of a broad-based government.’

However, the Taliban has accused the US of not fulfilling the agreement made. The news channel quoted Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid as saying that the agreement, signed in Doha, was implemented on our behalf.

Among the important points of the agreement, it was mentioned that the land in Afghanistan will not be used or used against the US and its allies, which all witnesses are witness to.

The US and the Taliban signed an agreement in February 2020, paving the way for the withdrawal of US troops from the war-torn country. Earlier, Khalilzad had said that he had chosen a deal with the Taliban as a last option to compensate for the US losing the war to the Taliban.

Speaking to CBS News, Khalilzad said that the US military tried several times to consolidate its position on the battlefield, but was unsuccessful.
