US President Donald Trump has given a new warning to the world. He has given a clear message that additional tariffs will be imposed against those countries which support the policy of BRICS countries against America.
Trump has announced that an additional tariff of 10 percent will be imposed against such countries. Actually, the BRICS Summit is being organized in Brazil at this time. BRICS was founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, but in the year 2023, countries like Indonesia, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates joined it.
US President Donald Trump said, ‘Any country that joins the anti-American policies of BRICS will be charged an additional 10 percent tariff. There will be no exception to this policy. Thank you for your attention to this matter.’
Trump said, ready to impose tariffs on 12 countries
The joint declaration of the BRICS summit criticised the indiscriminate tariff hikes without naming the US and said such measures threaten to hurt global trade and disrupt global supply chains.
As the deadline to stop tariffs approaches, Trump has said that he has tariff letters ready for 12 countries. Trump has said that the letters will be issued on Monday at 12 noon. In fact, on April 2, Trump had announced revised and increased tariff rates for all the trading partner countries of America. After the global reaction, he stopped it for 90 days. This ban is ending on July 9, even before that Trump is talking about imposing tariffs again.
What did PM Modi say in BRICS?
At the same time, PM Modi has expressed his opinion on the double standards towards terrorism in the case of attacks in the Global South at the BRICS summit. At the same time, the terrorist attack in Pahalgam was strongly condemned in the joint declaration of BRICS. 26 people were killed and many were injured in this attack. PM Modi lashed out at Pakistan for supporting terrorism from the BRICS platform. The PM appealed to global leaders to unite against terrorism.
PM Modi said in the BRICS Summit that India has always worked for humanity. There is a need for big changes in global institutions. The Global South got only symbolic support. Extensive reforms will have to be done in global institutions. Terrorism is the most serious challenge for humanity and victims and supporters of terrorism should not be weighed on the same scale.
