US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he will annex Greenland, whether through love or force. He has warned European countries against the threat of China and Russia, saying this is necessary.
Washington, DC: US President Donald Trump has once again made a major statement regarding Greenland. He said that if the US does not do anything about Greenland, Russia and China will take over. Trump also said that while he admires Denmark, arriving there by boat 500 years ago does not give Denmark ownership of the land. Trump made these remarks during a media interaction with prominent oil and gas industry figures.

When asked about Greenland, Trump said, “We’re going to do something about Greenland, whether they like it or not. Because if we don’t, Russia or China will take over Greenland, and we don’t want Russia or China as our neighbors. I’d like to do it with love, but if it doesn’t come easily, we’ll do it by force. By the way, I’m a big fan of Denmark too. They’ve treated me well. I’m a big fan of theirs, but just because they arrived in Greenland on a boat 500 years ago doesn’t give them ownership of that land.”
‘Proprietary rights are protected differently’
Trump further said, “We’ve also had several ships go to Greenland. We need this because if you look around Greenland, there are Russian destroyers, Chinese destroyers, and large Russian submarines. We will not let Russia or China take over Greenland. If we don’t take over Greenland, they will.” When asked why it’s necessary to “own” Greenland when the US could increase its military presence there, Trump said that ownership rights are protected differently, not leases.
“If it weren’t for me, there wouldn’t be NATO.”
Trump said, “When we own it, we protect it. You don’t protect a lease the same way. You have to be the owner. Countries should have ownership, and you protect ownership. You don’t protect a lease. If we don’t, China or Russia will. We won’t let that happen, NATO should understand that. I am a full supporter of NATO. If I weren’t there, there wouldn’t be NATO.” Trump has renewed his bid to annex Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark. The area is rich in natural resources such as rare earth minerals, uranium, and iron.
