Shanghai: The prescribed age group has been changed in view of criminal cases in China. Earlier it was 14 years, which has now been reduced to two years and 12 years. According to this change, now children aged 12 years who commit serious crimes will not be exempted but will be punished severely.
The Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress on Saturday passed the 11th Amendment draft in criminal law during its 24th session. According to China Daily, children who are guilty of killing or seriously injuring will be punished. The National People’s Congress Standing Committee passed an amendment on Saturday which will come into effect from 1 March. It is for children between 12 and 14 years old.
