Washington:  A paper-based test of the corona has been developed under the leadership of a scientist of Indian origin. The presence of the virus can be detected within five minutes in this investigation using paper-based ‘electrochemical sensors’.

Researchers at the University of Illinois in the US have performed a graphene-based electrochemical biosensor to detect the presence of genetic particles of SARS-COV-2 with an ‘electrical read-out setup’. According to a research published in the journal ‘ACS Nano’, this biosensor has two components. One component measures electrical readout while the other component detects the presence of viral RNA. To create this, researchers under Professor Dipanjan Pan applied a layer of ‘graphene nanoplatelets’ to make a conductive film, and then they made gold with a predetermined design on top of the graphene as a contact pad for electrical read-outs. Placed an electrode.

Both gold and graphene have greater sensitivity and conductivity, which makes this platform ultrasonic to detect changes in electrical signals. Maha Alafif, a research student at the Illinois Grainer College of Engineering, said that graphene has mechanical and electrochemical properties that make it suitable for the development of sensitive electrochemical sensors. Currently RNA based corona tests detect the presence of N-genes on the corona virus. The team of researchers hope that apart from Kovid-19, it can also be used to detect different diseases.

A new research has emerged regarding the corona virus. According to this, this virus can remain alive for ten days in stagnant water. Also, in supply and tap water can also be alive for the same number of days. Experts say that it can live for two to four days in sewage water. This has been revealed in research conducted by the National Science Foundation Water Quality Center of the University of Arizona, USA.
