Washington: After President Donald Trump’s pardon to former US National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, the federal court has dismissed the ongoing criminal trial on him. The court has commented that this does not mean that he is innocent. Trump has pardoned the President, using his authority. The former NSA Flynn was facing trial for allegedly making false statements to the FBI (US intelligence agency) in a possible 2016 collision between the Trump team and Russia.
District Judge Emmett Sullivan stated in his 43-page decision that the president has the right to grant amnesty, but the apology is political, not legal. Along with this, the judge also said that getting apology from the President’s authority does not mean that he is innocent even after confessing his false statements twice. The law recognizes the political powers of the President, so the case is dismissed.

After the case was dismissed, Trump welcomed the decision and tweeted and congratulated Flynn. A Department of Justice spokesman has said that dismissing the lawsuit is the right decision.
