Washington. US President Joe Biden warned on Thursday that the fines imposed on people for violating the rule of wearing masks on planes, trains and other means of public transport would be doubled. He also said that the violators should be ‘ready to pay the fine’.
The Transportation Security Administration said that first-time violators could potentially be fined $500 to $1,000 and second-time violators between $1,000 and $3,000. These rules will be effective from Friday.
For now, first-time violators can be fined up to $250 and repeat violators up to $1,500.
