Male, ANI.  Some political parties in the island nation of Maldives have launched a propaganda campaign against India.

These anti-government parties are propagating false information against India by making the issue of national identity an issue. Colombo Information Agency last week removed the curtain from the propaganda war against India. The purpose of this propaganda is to create and incite feelings against India.

There was also an attempt in 2019 to create an anti-India atmosphere in Maldives. But such sporadic efforts have gained momentum in recent times. The hashtag India Out campaign is running on Twitter. A journalist named Ahmed Ajan and his associates are mainly engaged in this campaign.

He edits the newspapers Dhiyares and The Maldives Journal. He is considered a supporter of former President Abdulla Yameen. Muhammad Sayeed, who was the Minister of Economic Development in the previous government, is also engaged in increasing this propaganda campaign. He is also working to create an atmosphere against the Ibrahim Solih government.

Recently, Maldivian Defense Minister Maria Didi expressed her gratitude to India and said that the relationship between Maldives and India is ‘much stronger than before’ and New Delhi has always assisted Male in times of need. In a video recorded during a defense conference,

Didi also lauded India’s support to Maldives in all areas of development. He said that today the relations between Maldives and India are very strong. It is not only dependent on our shared values and history, but India has stood first to help us in times of need.

He also said that from the tsunami disaster in 2004 to the cooperation in fighting the corona epidemic, India was the first to help. Didi said that on behalf of the President and the people of Maldives, I commend the Government and people of India for their cooperation in the progress of our country in every field. We wish India all the best in its endeavor to build a ‘self-reliant India’, he said.
