Washington, Pretr. US officials say they believe Iran was behind last week’s drone strike on military posts in southern Syria, where US troops are present.

Officials said on Monday the US believed Iran promoted and encouraged the attack, but added that the drones were not launched from Iran. They were Iranian drones and Iran facilitated their use.

US officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details that have not yet been made public. Officials said they believed five explosive-laden drones were involved in the attacks, and they targeted both the US base of the al-Tanf garrison and the side where Syrian opposition forces live. However, no injuries or deaths were reported in the attack.

Militants launched drone and rocket attacks targeting a US military post in southern Syria. According to US officials, no American soldiers stationed there were injured in the attack by the terrorists. Syrian forces on patrol to counter Islamic State militants have been helped by US and coalition forces al-Tanf.

America’s big attack on Al-Qaeda, top commander hiding in Syria killed in drone attack

After the attack on the US military base, the US Army also took its revenge. A top al-Qaeda terrorist was killed in an airstrike by US forces in northwest Syria on Friday. US Central Command spokesman Army Major John Rigsby said in a statement that Abdul Hamid al-Matar was killed in a drone strike.

Rigsby said the killing of al-Matar would hinder al-Qaeda from “further plotting and carrying out global attacks targeting American citizens.”
