Mexico. In the southern part of the Latin American country Mexico (Mexican state), there is news of 53 people being killed in a road accident on Thursday. According to the news of Al-Jazeera, the accident happened when a truck passing through the Chiapas province of southern Mexico crashed due to overturning on a curve.

More than a hundred people were present in this truck, most of whom were migrants from Central American countries. According to officials, 53 people have been confirmed dead in this accident so far. At the same time, 58 people are said to be seriously injured.

The local administration has taken the injured to the nearest hospital where they are being treated. Explain that migrants try to reach the US border via Mexico to get out of the poverty and violence-filled environment of Central American countries. Around 40 injured suffered serious injuries and were taken to local hospitals. That is, at least 107 people were in the vehicle.

It is not unusual for cargo trucks in Mexico to carry so many people on migrant-smuggling operations in southern Mexico. The accident happened on a highway leading to the state capital of Chiapas. Photos from the scene showed victims scattered on the sidewalk and inside the cargo compartment of the truck.

The victims appeared to be immigrants from Central America, although their nationality had not yet been confirmed. Luis Manuel Moreno, head of the Chiapas state civil protection office, said some of the survivors said they were from neighboring Guatemala. In recent months, Mexican officials have been allowing migrants to walk in large groups toward the US border. But the secret and illegal flow of migrant smuggling continues.

In one of the largest busts recently, in October, officials in the northern border state of Tamaulipas found 652 predominantly Central American migrants jammed into a convoy of six freight trucks that were bound for the U.S. Were going towards the border. Migrants involved in serious accidents are often allowed to remain in Mexico at least temporarily because they are considered witnesses and victims of crime.

At the same time, December 12, the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, is approaching, so many Mexicans go on religious pilgrimage. During this time he often walks on narrow roads, rides bikes or travels in old buses. Accidents are common here, not uncommon.
