Washington [The New York Times]. Former US President Donald Trump and his two adult children, Ivanka and Donald Jr. Trump, will face interrogation in an ongoing civil investigation into business practices. According to the decision of a New York judge, all three will have to answer questions before the Attorney General of New York within 21 days.
Judge Arthur Angoran, after a two-hour hearing, dismissed the former president’s appeal, saying in his order that the Trump family would have to answer questions from Attorney General Letitia James. Although lawyers for the Trump family tried their best to ensure that Democrats could not interrogate Attorney General James Trump, they were unsuccessful in their efforts. Trump, Jr. Trump and Ivanka Trump allege that James is a Democrat and therefore politically biased towards Donald Trump.
At the same time, she is also trying to influence the criminal investigation through her civil investigation. But despite these allegations, Judge Arthur F. Angoran sided with public prosecutor Letitia James, saying the former president and his two children should be interrogated by next month.
Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorneys are investigating separate criminal cases into whether Trump overvalued his assets to obtain the loans he wanted.
However, this decision does not mean at all that James will get the answers he wants. Because like another son Eric Trump, Trump and his children can avoid this questioning by exercising their constitutional rights. Eric was to be questioned at the Attorney General’s office in October 2020. The Trump family can also appeal against this decision.
