In the UAE, an Indian diaspora has won 20 million dirhams i.e. about 39 crores in the lottery. Abdussalam, 28, a resident of Kerala, runs a shopping center in Muscat. The monthly lottery is the first draw of this year. Although the man from Kozhikode won the Big Ticket Abu Dhabi draw on Sunday, he came to know about his winner one day later.

The organizers of the lottery draw could not locate the person. He finally announced the name in his absence. The organizers searched for the winner in many ways. He tried to trace Abdussalam from members of the community. When his attempt failed, he revealed the lottery draw. Abdussalam got information about winning the lottery through his friend. He told a UAE newspaper by phone from Muscat that his friend would share the amount of money among friends who would be part of the ticket draw. The Big Ticket Draw was held in Abu Dhabi on 3 January.

Abdussalam’s ticket number was 323601. He made an online purchase to participate in the draw on 29 December. The father of two said that most of the amount would be spent in securing the future of his children. He also informed that the lottery proceeds will be used very intelligently in the current epidemic period. He said, “This is a very big news and I want to save money to secure my future”.
