Biden team : No change is expected in the attitude of future US President Joe Biden about China. The Biden team has made this point clear. A future Biden administration official said the goal of the newly elected president is to resolve differences with the European Union (EU) and work closely with the EU to surround Beijing.
Biden’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Jack Sullivan told CNN that the new administration considers China a serious rival to the US. The newly elected President Biden will work closely with European partners to resolve economic differences and improve relations. Together with them, he will compete with China on business, technology, military and human rights fronts. “Our goal is not only to unite to deal with China, but also to overcome the economic differences that the Trump administration started,” he said. The US NSA’s statement came at a time when the investment agreement between the EU and China was finalized last week.
Earlier, Sullivan had sent a message that the next US administration wanted to discuss with China its European allies on economic issues as soon as possible on shared concerns about China. It was previously feared that if the EU reached a separate agreement, the move would go against the elected President Biden’s desire to form a joint strategy with Europe on China’s case.
