US court convicted Chinese citizen in cancer-research theft case: A US district court has ordered a Chinese citizen Zosong Zheng to undergo three years of surveillance and leave the US after pleading guilty to cancer-research theft. In a release issued here on Wednesday, the Department of Justice said that US District Court Judge Dennis J. Caspar pleaded guilty to 31-year-old Zsong Zheng and ordered three years of surveillance and leaving the US.

The release reported that Zheng came to the US in August 2018 to conduct cancer-cell research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He said that when he tried to return to China after 15 months, a vial hidden in a sock was found in the screeners of his luggage at Logan International Airport.

Zheng initially denied this when asked by authorities if he was traveling with any biological items or research but later admitted that he had stolen the vial and lied to the police.

According to media reports, currently the Federal Investigation Agency (FBI) is investigating more than 2000 cases of Chinese espionage against the US.
