Washington. US regulators have saved a large number of doses from spoilage by extending the use period of Kovid-19 vaccines for the second time. The US Department of Food and Drug (FDA) on Wednesday sent a letter to vaccine maker Johnson & Johnson declaring that the vaccines are safe and effective for use for at least six months if stored correctly. The FDA’s decision gives an additional six weeks to use the dosages. US officials are urging people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Similar efforts are being made in different states of the country as well. Public health officials are insisting that soon-to-be-perishable vaccines be used before they go bad. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccine tracker website, federal health officials have shipped an additional 8 million doses of Johnson & Johnson to states that have not yet been used. The company has not shared the duration of use of these supplements.

Expiry date of vaccines extended for the second time For the
first time in February, while approving the corona vaccine, it was said that there is a time of three months for the vaccine. But after this its time has been told as four and a half months. The agency says that if the vaccines are properly maintained, they remain safe and effective for up to six months.

At the same time, according to media reports, health officials in many states had said that thousands of doses would have to be thrown away if the expiry date of a one-dose vaccine was not extended. By extending the date, the vaccine centers have got additional time to deploy the remaining vaccine at their centre.
