A study conducted on monkeys showed that even if a small amount of antibody in the body is functioning properly, it can be helpful in preventing T-cell infection of the immune system. According to the scientists, this study may prove helpful in the treatment and treatment of corona. The study, published in the journal Nature, sheds light on the role of antibodies and immune cells in protection against corona.

You can get help in treating infection

Dan Barroch, a US-based Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and co-author of the study, said, “During the research, we have tried to understand the role of antibodies and T-cells in protecting against corona in monkeys. We found that relatively few antibodies are necessary for protection from infection. ‘ Such study could help formulate next-generation vaccines, antibody-based treatment and strategies against corona, said Broach.

Test done on 12 monkeys

Earlier studies reported that corona infection prevents rhesus macaques (a species of monkeys) from being re-infected. Subsequently, Broach and his colleagues collected antibodies from the monkeys recovering from the infection and tested the antibodies on fully cured 12 monkeys. During this time it was found that protection against corona in monkeys depended on the dose of the antibody.

Study done like this

According to the researchers, monkeys who were given antibodies in high doses were completely safe from the corona, while monkeys with low antibodies were at risk of infection. In the same way, when ill-fated antibodies were injected into sick monkeys, it was seen that those who had more antibodies showed infection to control them faster.

Antibody only protective cover

In another experiment, when the scientists removed these immune cells from the monkeys, the danger of infecting them corona was once again looming. Professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, Baroche said the study suggests that antibodies alone are sufficient in protection from the corona, but T-cells are also helpful in protecting against the corona if its level is too low.
