Washington, Pretr.  The top Republican senator has introduced a bill in the US Senate that calls on President Joe Biden to verify in parliament that no Quad country is participating in quadrilateral discussions on national security. Against him he imposes punitive CAATSA (Countering America’s Adversaries Throw Sanctions Act) sanctions.

The bill has been introduced by Republican Senator Ted Cruz from Texas and is co-proposed by Senator Tad Young from Indiana and Senator Marshall Roger from Kansas. The bill discourages the President from imposing punitive provisions against India for purchasing the S-400 missile defense system from Russia. The bill was introduced in the Senate on October 28, but its draft was made public on Monday morning.

It is known that apart from America, India, Japan and Australia are included in the quad. On September 24, President Biden hosted its summit at the White House. A day before the bill was introduced, two influential senators, Mark Warner and John Carnin, wrote to Biden urging him not to invoke the Katsa provisions against India in the national interest of the US.
