China has changed its border law for the first time in more than seven decades. China will be able to increase patrols on its geographical borders with 14 countries including India or can also unilaterally close the trade posts located on the borders.
This law, passed by the National Congress of China, will come into force from January 1, 2022. This move of the dragon has come to the fore at a time when talks are going on at the military and civilian levels regarding the border dispute between India and China.
India has border disputes with China in Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. A major reason for the dispute between India and China in Ladakh is also due to military patrolling in some areas. Recently, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla had said that China will have to take its own initiative to establish peace on the border.

China claims that it has settled border disputes with 12 of its 14 neighbors. The dispute is not settled with India and Bhutan only. The Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China is 3,488 km.
