Pakistan is once again trying to woo the Taliban. On Thursday, suddenly Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and the Chief of Intelligence Agency ISI, General Faiz Hameed, reached Kabul. Here he met the leaders of the Taliban regime.

Later said that the Government of Pakistan will give assistance of 500 crore rupees (Pakistani currency) to Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds.

Actually, Pakistan’s effort is to somehow prepare the Taliban government of Afghanistan to stop the Taliban from attacking Pakistan in their country. However, the Afghan Taliban has already made it clear that they will not put any kind of pressure on the Pakistani Taliban.

We are ready to help
After meeting the Taliban leaders, Qureshi said – if they need medicines in hospitals or they want some other help, then we are absolutely ready to help. We want to help them on humanitarian grounds. We want to help the Taliban government in meeting their basic needs. This is a very difficult time for them. Power has changed, so all kinds of challenges are in front of them.

Duty Free Imports
Qureshi said that the Pakistan government will no longer impose any duty on fruits and vegetables coming from Afghanistan. The advantage of this will be that trade relations between the two countries will be stronger and safer than before.

We are also going to provide Visa on Arrival facility to the people of Afghanistan. We have given the authority to our Kabul Embassy to issue business visas up to five years to Afghan businessmen.

According to Qureshi, the Taliban regime in Afghanistan has assured them that their land will not be used for attacks or terrorist activities in Pakistan. Balochistan Liberation Front and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan have bases in Afghanistan. These terrorist organizations often enter Pakistan and attack.

Qureshi was accompanied by ISI Chief General Faiz Hameed. Faiz is soon to become the Chief of Peshawar Corps Command. In his place, General Nadeem Anjum can be given the command of ISI.
