GENEVA, AP. Corona virus is not over yet. Despite the vaccine, Europe remains the epicenter of the corona epidemic.

Top officials of the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Thursday that coronavirus cases in Europe increased by more than 50 percent in the past month, making it the epicenter of the pandemic despite an adequate supply of vaccines.

The World Health Organization said 53 countries in Europe and Central Asia could face a “real threat” of a resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic in the coming weeks, already battling a new wave of infections.

The organization has expressed the threat of another wave of corona virus in these countries.

WHO’s head of emergencies Dr. Michael Ryan said during a press briefing on Thursday, ‘There may be many vaccines available, but vaccine use has not remained the same.’ The organization called on European authorities to close the gap in corona vaccination.

However, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that countries that have vaccinated more than 40 percent of their population should donate their corona doses to developing countries, as the first corona vaccine has also been found in such countries.

At the same time, WHO’s Director of Europe Region of 53 countries, Dr. Hans Kluge said that the number of corona cases has started increasing again to almost record levels and the speed of infection in the region is a matter of serious concern. He told reporters at the organization’s Europe headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark, that we stand at a turning point in the outbreak of the epidemic.

Along with this, he said that cases are increasing due to measures to prevent the spread of corona virus and low vaccination rates in some areas. In the last one week, the hospitalization rate of people due to corona has more than doubled in 53 countries and if this situation continues then five lakh more people could die due to the epidemic in the region by February.
