Taylor Swift has reportedly changed the verbiage on merchandise for her new album, “Folklore,” after complaints by an online store specializing in African brands.

Amira Rasool, of Black-owned business The Folklore, reportedly posted on Instagram of Swift’s logo for her “Folklore” threads, “She is currently selling merchandise with the words ‘The Folklore’ printed on them. Based on the similarities of the design, I believe the designer of the merch ripped off my company’s logo.”

Team Taylor responded quickly that it would change the duds, issuing a statement that read: “Yesterday, we were made aware of a complaint that the specific use of the word ‘the’ before ‘folklore album’ on some of the folklore album merchandise was of concern.

Absolutely no merchandise using ‘the’ before the words ‘folklore album’ has been manufactured or sent out. In good faith, we honored her request and immediately notified everyone who had ordered merchandise with the word ‘the’ preceding ‘folklore album’ that they will now receive their order with the design change.”

Rassol then publicly commended Swift’s camp for the quick change, but added to WWD, “I think there’s a larger conversation that needs to be had.”

Swift is selling shirts and cardigans to promote her new surprise album, which she released last Friday.

A rep for Swift did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
